dnf update failed to synchronize cache for repo updates and other failures to connect to fedora with firefox

wired network gives access to other sites but not to fedora sites

I expect you either have a faulty DNS server or something on your network path is blocking it. What is the output of ping -c2 fedoraproject.org? If that give you an error, then compare the output of dig fedoraproject.org with dig @8.8.8.8 fedoraproject.org.

It would be quite helpful if you provide the message that Firefox displays as well. Firefox generally has specific and useful error messages unlike some other browsers.

After getting the info from both dig commands, you could try changing the nameserver entry in your /etc/resolv.conf file to 8.8.8.8. Note that this will break resolving hosts in your local domain if you have one.

Firefox displays "Server not found" for Fedora sites. Other sites are accessible.

That definitely points towards a DNS issue. What about the other info I asked for? The two dig commands will provide an explanation.
