I have a fedora 24 cinnamon installation, when I restart the system I get this error: exit_boot() failed! efi_main() failed! which does not happen when i reboot from the rescue kernel I upgraded to fedora 25 but it did not solve the problem. Could you help me or refer me to someone who could?

Many thanks André Apicella

May be it helps someone... I bumped with the same issue.

In my case I had had Fedora 25 with UEFI boot system and for some reason I had to switch to Legacy boot mode. After some time after kernel update (not first!) I got this error: exitboot() failed! efimain() failed!. After switching back to UEFI the system started. And after that switching back again to Legacy - it run too.

I am having the same error. I think its has to do with my external usb drives. I can get past the error and load the system if I unplug & comment out the drives from /etc/fstab.

I have three drives all the same make/model. I think I must have setup the fstab entries wrong, as the "problem" drive switches around between the three. I have other drives of a different model that do not give me any trouble.

For the moment I have them commented out and just mount them manually.

I don't know if that is your issue, but it's something to look at!
