Hey, thanks for the suggestion, sorry I didn't make it clear. The updates I ran were fedora updates, not windows. I made no changes to the windows installation.

Hi Everyone, I am fairly new to Linux and I think this issue is fairly common but I cannot make sense of other posts

I use a windows 10 laptop usually but occasionally UEFI boot from a fedora 27 encrypted external drive. I just ran the latest fedora updates and now I cannot boot into fedora. Instead of getting the boot screen, I get the following error {the screen flashes really fast so sorry if it's not exact}:

System BootOrder not found. Initialising defaults. Reset System

It seems something went wrong during the fedora update and that I need to restore grub somehow. Some have said to copy the boot files and others have said to use a fedora recovery disk to repair my SSD installation. I have some medical documents on the drive and need to access them. I'd be super grateful if anyone can tell me in a noob (but not computer incompetent) friendly way how I can fix the boot loader on the drive so I can recovery my work
