Here's how I install Skype on my 64bit Fedora system. The instructions should be the same for 32 bit systems also:

  1. Go to
  2. Choose Fedora $version 32 bit in the drop down menu. (At the present they provide a version only for Fedora 16 32 bit)
  3. Save the file to disk at a known location.
  4. Open a terminal, traverse to the directory you downloaded the rpm to: cd ~/Downloads # for example
  5. Run this command: sudo yum install libXScrnSaver.i?86 libX11.i?86 libXv.i?86 libv4l.i?86 alsa-plugins-pulseaudio.i?86 qt-x11.i?86; sudo yum localinstall skype-*.rpm --nogpgcheck
  6. Run skype!

The above command ensures that you have the required 32 bit libraries installed on a 64 bit system too.
