Macs come with a FAT32 EFI System partition, created by macOS's Disk Utility. Fedora's installer does something unique, by creating a small HFS+ volume to put the bootloader on, and is effectively treated as an EFI system partition by Fedora, while macOS just sees it as a small HFS+ volume. It should permit switching between macOS and Fedora by holding down the option key. Also, Startup Disk panel in System Preferences should see Fedora too but recent macOS versions seem to have changed, on my Mac this no longer works for some reason.
