Hi,

I got a new Dell inspiron 7000 and everything was working fine until today. I did a dnf update and afterwards things became a bit strange, after plugging my headphone no sound was available and the behavior persisted after resetting the machine.

I am currently running Fedora 25:

Linux 4.8.16-300.fc25.x8664 #1 SMP Fri Jan 6 18:11:49 UTC 2017 x8664 x8664 x8664 GNU/Linux

Executing aplay -l I get the following output:

aplay: device_list:268: no soundcards found...

Do anyone has an idea of how to fix this issue?

alsa-info.sh output: http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=445...

sounds like a kernel issue, because with todays update the 4.8.16 was new.

You could try to cold boot (shut down and turn off computer) instead of resetting. sometimes devices in the computer are initialized differently during cold boot and warm boot.

Or as a workaround and furhter test when you boot you can select an earlier kernel version and see if it works this way.

Thanks @ceres2009, a cold boot solved it, will wait a bit to make sure it doesn't happen again.

So after I suspended the machine the sound stopped working again, strangely I can execute 'aplay -l' and get the list of sound cards now.

After resetting again both in the previous kernel version and current version the sound card is no longer recognized.
