I recently upgraded from fedora 19 to 21and It stops at the GNOME display manager. In an effort to fix this I ran into the problem, "Could not resolve proxy <ip>" then then "trying other mirror". I don't seem to have access to the the internet and it keeps going towards a proxy setup which I am not trying to do.

How are you upgrading? Have you set your repositories to the archive location of End-Of-Life releases?

Looks like you have an upgrade marathon ahead of you - it may be much quicker and less troublesome to make a solid backup of your system, and then perform a fresh and clean install of a supported Fedora (currently F24 and F25).

I don't know if you're using your browser for this, or if you're using Firefox, but if you are, this may help. In Firefox, go to Edit, Preferences, Advanced, Network. Under Connection, go to Settings and see if your browser is set to be using a proxy. If so, turn if off and see if that helps. Good luck, and keep us informed.
