Hi, New to linux. Installed Fedora 25 on my desktop. Tried to run flash player (flash-player-npapi-24.0.0.221-release.x86_64.rpm) after I downloaded it, from the Downloads - Dolphin folder by double clicking it but it doesn't run the program.

I've always been a windows person and would like to run it using the gui interface, but will try it from the command line if necessary.

It is a good idea as aeprezt writes above to install the package from the command line, then dnf can find and download all dependencies automatically. By the way VLC media player can play .swf files if that is all you need, and Google Chrome can show flash content on web pages.

If you have installed Fedora 25 Workstation, any .rpm file when download with the browser it should be open and installed with gnome package manager. If it fail you can always install by open a terminal and issue command like:

sudo dnf install flash-player-npapi-24.0.0.221-release.x86_64.rpm

Now if you want to use fedora will recommend you to get into learning the terminan and commands like dnf, you can type man dnf and you can read the manual for dnf.

Good Luck

Comments

The poster was trying to open the file with dolphin, the default file manager for KDE. This suggests that he's probably using KDE, not Gnome, so the gnome package manager probably isn't available. Installing it from a CLI will work, no matter what DE you're using, so thanx for including that.
