I have been running fedora for the past few months, and I found the nvidia ftp site. I downloaded the 378.13 that was posted on 02/15/2017 and it has run fine, even with kernel updates, so I thought I would share the direct link, for anyone who cares to use it.

https://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/378.13/

Enjoy!!

Update:Driver link changed, as Nvidia.com no longer hosts ftp

seriously, someone downvoted. i thought it was helpful to any that wanted to run the newest drivers. sorry if it offended you somehow, but would love to know what you found offensive, so I do not make that mistake again.

Downloading and installing nvidia driver every kernel update is not the job you want. Install driver from repo like rpmfusion or negativo17 is much better.

Speaking from years of experience, once you install akmod-nvidia new drivers get built at boot every time the kernel is updated. Most of us here like that kind of "fire and forget," and rpmfusion is a well-known and reliable repository.

dkms updating every kernel change. nothing to download or install. tried repos, tried nouveau, this was the best solution for my needs. I made this post, as a point of reference for those who might want to install the latest available linux driver for the video cards.

@sideburns, did you read my post? what do you think dkms does? This was intended as purely informational, I did not think it would degenerate into a he said she said about what is better or worse in linux. Speaking from decades of computer work, I know what I like, what works best for low maintenance and ensures my compatibility with the tasks I want to accomplish. Start your own posts, if all you want to do is disparage what I have tried to do here. this topic is closed.
