Since kernel 4.10.x my desktop running Fedora 25 KDE can not log back in after lock screen activates. Most of the time the lock screen is totally unresponsive, other times I can enter a password and then X crashes completely and I can start a new session. This does not happen if i boot the last 4.9.x kernel which I have kept, but it happens on all 4.10.x kernels that have come out so far. I can switch to a console (ctrl alt F2) and log in. The graphics card is Nvidia but no third party drivers.

I'm seeing the same thing, but with GNOME. Nouveau drivers. Both 4.10 kernels I've tried hard lock the PC at some point after the screen locks.

When it finally comes back up (10 min disc check each reset ๐Ÿ˜•) I'll see how long it went before freezing as i know when I locked it.

Ok, after a fresh reboot (I was seeing if the latest kernel fixed the issue this morning) I screen locked at 6:30, it hung at just gone 12. Nothing in the logs.

I found this bug report https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.... it seems to be the cause.

hi,

I have installed F25-KDE spin on i7(8GB RAM) machine. I was also facing the same problem ( system hangs(not the just the screen) when screen-locked for long time) I upgraded the xorg-x11-drv-nouveau 1.0.15-2.fc25 driver , BUT STILL the problem persists, i.e. system hangs when I leave it screen-locked for long time.

Any other solution please. Thanks.

Hi, I have the same issue. I switch to a text console (ctrl-alt-F2) and log in as the same user, then kill the process named kscreenlock_greet (or something like that, i can not check right now). Then when I switch back to the graphical login screen, the screen locker is restarted, and I can log in again.

It seems that the next update to xorg-x11-drv-nouveau 1.0.14-2 fixed the crashing on login issue. When I try to log in after screensaver has been active, it stalls for a long time but so far it does not crash.

My mistake, the problem still exists.
