Basic firewall setup

Hello! I have recently decided to try out Fedora. One of the first problem I ran across is the firewall. I have downloaded "Firewall" app from Software, so I have some GUI. But I can't really orient there. Where do I set incoming / outgoing rules? Everything I see there are some protocols. Could somebody show me the basic setup, so my computer is protected? I tried searching in Google, but I didn't find anything meaningful.

Thanks

Each gui will have different panels, options and so forth, it depends on the desktop environment you use. To tell you to click or type a specific command, is going to be difficult. Are you trying to open ports, for specific ip to have traffic to and from the internet? What do you wish to accomplish? I use cinnamon as my desktop and the firewall settings in the system control center are fairly easy to understand, so knowing what desktop you use, could help someone give a good answer to your question.

I assume you used the workstation install. In that case, firewalld is installed and enabled and your computer is secured by default.

On Ports tab, in FedoraWorkstation zone it says that ports 1025-65535 on TCP and UDP are open. Isn't that a vulnerability?

Unlikely. All the system processes use ports below that. The high ports were left open to avoid issues with user applications not being able to communicate.

Are you behind a router? if so, are any ports open on it? if not, then anything open on the computer is not really relevant, is it?

I also looked a lot for a basic guide and could not find anything, There is no answer to the question at the moment.

For more detailed information on firewalld, I would suggest looking at the firewalld documentation as well.
