Evince doesn't show the greek letters in pdf file for Fedora24-26

asked 2017-05-19 16:53:26 +0000

Dear all, recently, I have a problem about the greek letters in pdf file after updating fedora from 19 to 24, then to 25, 26. When I was using fedora 19, the greek letter displays very well in pdf file by evince. But after updating to fedora 24 version by version, the evince doesn't show the greeek letters in pdf file anymore. Then I updated to fedora 25 and 26, it still doesn't work.

The pdf file was created by ROOT software. The greek letters were generated by command '#mu','#pm' or '#Delta'. It works well with Foxit Reader and Adobe Reader, but not for evince.

Is there anyone knows the solution ? I appreciate to get any useful suggestions from you.

If Greek letters are not embedded then evince will use system font. I assume your system already has Greek fonts and the font cache might be a issue. Try to rebuild the font cache :

$ fc-cache -v -f

and see if this helps.

Hi, thank you for your suggestion. I tried your command. But it still doesn't work. And I got some output:

/usr/share/X11/fonts/TTF: skipping, no such directory /usr/local/share/fonts: skipping, no such directory /root/.local/share/fonts: skipping, no such directory /root/.fonts: skipping, no such directory /usr/lib/fontconfig/cache: cleaning cache directory /root/.cache/fontconfig: not cleaning non-existent cache directory /root/.fontconfig: not cleaning non-existent cache directory fc-cache: succeeded

Because of the limitation of characters, I can't put all of the output here.
