I have access to the internet. I can ping other PC's on my network BUT when I go to Places>Network (in Gnome GUI)I see a windows network icon and when I click on it i get:

Unable to Mount Location failed to retrieve share list from server

I have a dynamic IP & everything else seems to be working.

Any ideas??

set up the samba server :

                  yum install samba samba-common

configure :

    vim /etc/samba/smb.conf
    public=yes/no(depends)
    valid user=username(if req)
    if you are making for perticular user then
    (username)
    path= dir you want to share
    public=yes/no(depends)
    valid user=username or ip address or ip address/subnet mask(for entire network)

Start service:

       service smb start

setup smb password for user:

      smbpassword -a user

now you can use GUI or terminal to use it
