I had the same problem on fedora 25. I updated to fedora 26 last night. Every thing loaded after I removed chromium. I still have the same problem with the activities icons won't obtain color. Part of seamonkey is also dark. What areas should I look for the problem? The settings don't work properly on fedora 26 also.

What do you mean about the settings? That should probably be asked separately.

Have you installed any themes for Gnome, GTK, or Gnome-shell?

Everything worked fine and I tried a link on the internet and something was changed. I kept getting malware alerts on clamav in the kernel. I installed 3 different kernels but it still shows malware. I thought a complete change to fedora 26 would fix the problem.

Updating is not a complete change because all your files and any extra files or data in the root partition are still there. So if you actually have malware, then that will still be there. I'm curious what the malware alerts say. If you want to really clean it, you will need to do a clean install of F26, not an upgrade. As long as you have /home on a separate partition and don't delete it, all your user files will still be there, but a backup is always a good idea anyway.

I installed new kernels and appeared to have gotten rid of the malware but still have the problem.
