How do I get Facebook gifs to play in Firefox?

On the facebook page, I see a static image with a GIF-inside-a-dotted-circle icon in the center. Clicking on the image renders the space as blank. Would be much better if the animated GIF would play.

  • Firefox 54.0
  • Some gstreamer and gstreamer1 rpms installed

Displaying animated gif should work out of the box, you do not need any addons and you do not need to install anything beyond firefox.

Examples (working here)

https://giphy.com/search/gif-animation

If you are posting an image to facebook, see https://www.facebook.com/help/communi...

Otherwise, this may be a bug in firefox. File a bug report with mozilla

If you have some link or gif that you can give us ....
