F26 - authentication failure after lock

I have been hitting this issue intermittently since the initial installation of Fedora 26 on my laptop.

I get authentication failure occasionally after locking the screen while I am 100% sure of using the correct password.
To get around it, I first have to click on 'Log in as another user' and back on my user, then I log in successfully.
Reboot eliminates the problem for a while, but it springs up again after some time.

I started journal -f last time.
Here is an unsuccessful login attempt:
