Hi I have had an installation of fedora 26 for a month and I'm not sure if auditd always failed or if its something new. I saw this thread which seems like my exact same problem. I fixed the permissions:

  $ sudo ls -l /var/log/audit/
[sudo] password for pepe:
total 1100
-rwxr-x---. 1 root root 1124409 Oct  8 19:15 audit.log

$........
...
drwxr-x---. 1 root    root                 18 Sep 18 13:48 audit
......

tried to dnf reinstall audit tried restorecon /var/log/audit/ Is this supposed to be like this? Also found this thread I am using a laptop with an I7 and 16GRAM not a raspberry pi. does this apply to me too? should I disable that service? Thanks in advance.

Permission for audit.log is not correct. Should be

-rw-------. 1 root root 7944704 Oct  9 08:19 audit.log

Thank you it was like that before. I will revert. however audit still fails.

It somehow fixed itself after an update. I guess it was a bug on fedora 26. Cheers!
