When the screen gets locked (manually or by power-saving), or when the current user logs out the screens turn off and it's impossible to turn them on again, when i restart the physical displays they just go into power saving mode.

nouveau seems to crash when it tries to switch to the login/unlock screen

it helped, not only does locking the screen work again, but it also stopped flickering, when i have time i will try to recreate the bug and file a report

try installing proprietary and see if that helps. if so, then submit a bug report to the nouveau developers.

In case nouveau crashed, coredumpctl should list a crash and you should be able to debug it. Try using abrt to report the bug or use coredumpctl. See https://fedoramagazine.org/file-bette... for details.

Anyway, without a few more data, e.g. from your syslog (journalctl -b -1 lists all the logging from previous boot, journalctl -b lists logging from current boot) there is no way to help you.

unfortunately i already switched to the proprietary drivers and booted so often that the journalctl log nolonger covers the last time i triggered the bug, i will try to recreate the bug though when i have a little bit more time left
