I recently installed World of Warcraft on Fedora 27 (running using Wine).

When I start the game using wine WoW.exe the game starts but when I log in with my character the camera is awful and every slight move of the mouse makes the camera turn in every single direction.

I am playing on a Lenovo Thinkpad x230. The command lspci -k | grep -A 2 VGA lists:

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller (rev 09)
    Subsystem: Lenovo Device 21fa
    Kernel driver in use: i915

Furthermore, the way I installed the game was by simply copying and pasting it from my windows machine.

Lastly, I just noticed an error message popping out when using wine WoW.exe and it is as follow:

fixme:d3d:wined3ddxtninit Wine cannot find the txc_dxtn library, DXTn software support unavailable. I tried installing the libtxc_dxtn.x86_64 and libtxc_dxtn.i686 packages (as that is what I found on the internet), however, it could not be found.

Has anyone experienced such behavior and has any suggestions on how to fix it?

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but playing games with Wine is not great :/. I'd suggest a dual boot honestly.

If the problem is that you can't find those packages, they're on RPMFusion. You should add that repo (it's pretty useful and contains a lot of good packages).

I'm not sure about this but I think the problem is something to do with DirectX. If someone can confirm that, that would be great, but don't take my word for it.

Hope that helped.
