Need GNOME Respin

asked 2017-12-26 20:57:55 +0000

Respins are up-to-date ISOs , with update packages pre-installed.

Also, according to spins.fedoraproject.org , RESPINS are alternate ISOs with other desktop environments than the default one (GNOME)...and it has listed XFCE, CINNAMON, etc.

but at dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/live-respins/

I see other environments too: MATE & WORK

What are they....and can I download an up-to-date ISO of the default GNOME environment from there??

The MATE ISO at dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/live-respins/ is the Mate respin. According to the Readme file at dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/live-respins/, the WORK ISO has the Gnome desktop. It seems to be the same version as the default one.

All ISOs are updated a couple of times during the lifetime of the release. However, if you want the most up date versions immediately, it's best to use the netinstall ISO: http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedora/linux/releases/27/Workstation/x8664/iso/Fedora-Workstation-netinst-x8664-27-1.6.iso which does not include any desktop, but you can choose which one you want during setup. It will then download the most recent files. Alternatively, just use the regular ISOs and update after setup.
