I need to use program in F# for my class but I can't find an environment to code on. I've heard of Visual Studio but it gives me problems when I try to install it. What can I do or what should I use?

In terms of an editor, try and look for a GUI editor like Bluefish or GEdit like the person above said. You could opt for a more command line approach like me and use vim or emacs. They don't have the fancy bells and whistles like the new software, but they're very reliable and I've grown used to them.

Either works.

there are many programming environments in fedora. use cd to go to the directory you want to work in and type python for python, gedit can be used to compile html and many other web based scripts however my favourite is bluefish editor it supports many programming languages

It looks like the F# Foundation has a page up on the installation of the F# and then recommends the Visual Studio Code Editor. See more info on their site:

Look to the bottom of the page for two recommendations for editors as well.
