On a clean install of Fedora27 I ran dnf install akmod-nvidia-340xx "kernel-devel-uname-r == $(uname -r)" to install the Nvidia drivers for my card..All worked Fine But then I noticed that X Server was not working so began trying to get that up...So, I found a few helpful things in here about running XORG etc..installed them, rebooted and Oh dear....Very Low Rez screen ( which is a shame as I run a 27" moniter Assumed Errors had been encountered so ran dnf install xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-340xx akmod-nvidia-340xx --allowerasing Rebooted, no change Tried reinstall the original drivers again, no change..So now I am stuck with HUGE Letters, Cursor and stuff and seem unable to get back to the 1700 x 1600 display I was on before.. please help And what has happened to X..why can't I run it ?

Thanks in advance

I ran dnf remove command and have got back to where I was before. I ran rpm -qa | grep nvidia and removed all the XORG stuff I found i,e sudo dnf remove xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-340xx-kmodsrc-340.104-1.fc27.x86_64 But this still leaves me where I was before I started, with some applications unable to "open window" with X window error

If I had seen this before, it would have solved a lot of problems...but it doe snot answer my question about Running X programs...It seems the "compatability" issue is still high. The following link may help people understand if they have similar problems
