I Have been trying to follow this guide: on how to install VirtualBox 5.2 on Fedora 27. It all went pretty smooth until I used the command '/usr/lib/virtualbox/ setup' to rebuild the kernel modules. Below you can see that the problem lies on the last line:

# /usr/lib/virtualbox/ setup Stopping VirtualBox services. Building VirtualBox kernel modules. Starting VirtualBox services. Building VirtualBox kernel modules. failed: modprobe vboxdrv failed. Please use 'dmesg' to find out why. failed: modprobe vboxdrv failed. makes it seem like there is some error. Does anybody know how to fix this and correctly finish the installation and everything?

I would be sincerely thankful if someone could help me out since I am a newbie on Fedora 27 and have been trying to install VirtualBox on Fedora all night correctly so that I don't get the well-known error rc=-1908 when I try to launch an OS in VirtualBox.

So, concerning rc=-1908 you want to say that you have disabled secure boot? Run dmesg -c, then start the /usr/lib/virtualbox/ setup again and run again dmesg and post the output.

Running dmesg after /usr/lib/virtualbox/ setup outputs nothing! What does that mean?

yes , vbox 5.2.6 won't build all modules for kernel 4.15

you need patch the kmod vbox sources [1]

Is on updates-testing of F27 RPMFusion, VirtualBox-5.2.6-2.fc27

If you try it, you need uninstall oracle rpm sources and all files left in system ... (because don't use akmods) , if you succeeded let me know to update wiki on how clean files generated by oracle scripts.

Best regards,
