Skype texting problem

asked 2018-04-12 17:41:27 -0500

I am using Fedora 27 and am having a problem getting Skype to fully work for me. I have Skype installed and the installation went normally. I can make calls using Skype ok, but the audio is not great though that might be my internet connection rather than Fedora.

My problem is this: I can text another person on Skype and they receive my text as expected. I, however, cannot receive any texts from the other person. Nothing at all. I am wondering if my firewall is blocking incoming Skype data. I have looked at the firewall settings, but it is really above my head. Of course, I could be wrong and it has nothing to do with the firewall.

I would appreciate any help you can give me because I rely on Skype daily. Thanks.

Well, this is embarrassing. After not working for two days, Skype suddenly started fully working today. I don't understand why because I did nothing. The only thing I can think of is my internet connection which isn't the greatest. Thanks.
