Why won't updates clear in Software?

asked 2018-04-14 11:11:38 -0600

Using Fedora 27 Software program won't install all updates, or isn't clearing the all updates from the list after completion.

I've had this problem for weeks and it seems to change as updates are released and I install new software. Right now the updates listed are for Megasync and rpmfusion-nonfree-appstream-data. These updates have changed through the weeks. Sometimes when I click to see which updates they are it shows me and sometimes it doesn't.

I can run "sudo dnf update" in Terminal and it says there are no updates even though Software says otherwise. Sometimes there are a lot of updates and regardless if I do it through Terminal or Sofware all of them will not clear.

Since it's telling me what the updates are right now, I've tried updating them manually through Terminal and it's not working, but I think I'm doing it wrong. I have a feeling this isn't something complicated, but after searching Google I haven't found anything to solve it.

Yes, I think I found that command while I was waiting for this to post yesterday. I just did it again to make sure. Today the update that won't remove changed. It says OS Updates and when I click for details the window just says Updates.

dnf is completely unrelated with Gnome Software. You may want to refresh Gnome Software's metadata with the following command:

pkcon refresh force

Then restart Gnome Software

I closed all programs, ran command, and restarted. It didn't work. =/ Thanks though.

So, maybe there are updates pending. Run sudo dnf update again.

I had some updates tonight, and after they installed I checked Software. It's the same as yesterday.

I don't get it. If you run pkcon refresh force now, does the update message disappear from Gnome Software?

I just checked for updates and there were a few. After running them I had to restart. I checked for updates again and it's finally clear! I didn't run "pkcom refresh force" again. I'm not sure why it didn't clear yesterday. Thanks for the help though!
