I currently run Fedora 28 on my Dell XPS (2011) Intel based laptop

In 2 to 3 months , I am going to either build a desktop with AMD Ryzen Threadripper (2nd gen) or buy a high end laptop with it.

The 32-core CPU mentioned in the below link

https://www.anandtech.com/show/12906/...

But, I want to know if Fedora Workstation (28) OS is AMD Ryzen friendly. ie. Any compatibility issues with drivers , ... etc ?

I don’t have Ryzen myself, but I’ve got two friends who use Fedora on a daily basis on AMD Ryzen and I’ve not heard any compatibility complains from either of them. (They complain a lot so they’d let me know if they’d run into any issues.) :P

See this: https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?pag...

Does not appear to have any obvious problems with late vintage Ubuntu.

It'll work for sure. May have a couple bugs in the early stages though.

There shouldn't be any compatibility issues, but just make sure it works on the latest Linux kernel before you splurge and make the purchase.

Good luck :)
