How to add 1080 resolution to Fedora 28

I recently changed my PC display to Samsung SyncMaster S22A310X which supports 1928x1080p. The problem is that the maximum quality I get in Fedora is 1600x900. I tried changing the display source from Intel integrated graphics to dedicated (NVidia GeForce 730). Still, no success. System Info: Intel Core i7-4790.

How could we fix that and add the 1080p resolution?

@hhlp already tried. Didn't help. I receive xrandr: Configure crtc 0 failed

It you are using X you can do:

cvt 1928 1080 60

# 1928x1080 59.95 Hz (CVT) hsync: 67.14 kH
z; pclk: 173.50 MHz
Modeline "1928x1080_60.00" 173.50 1928 2
056 2256 2584 1080 1083 1093 1120 -hsync

xrandr --newmode "1928x1080_60.00" 173.50 1928 2056 2256 2584 1080 1083 1093 1120 -hsync +vsync

xrandr --addmode VGA-1 "1928x1080_60.00"

xrandr --output VGA-1 --mode "1928x1080_60.00"

Change VGA-1 with the value reported running xrandr without options.

This did not work. I keep receiving xrandr: Configure crtc 0 failed. By the way, for me it is XWAYLAND0 instead of VGA-1.

@powergame Read my answer again. It starts with "If you are using X..." meaning a full X session and finishes with: "Change VGA-1 with the value reported running xrandr without options.". Start a Gnome on Xorg session (click on the gear icon in GDM) and change resolution as I explained to you.

Hi @fcomida. Did it again in Gnome session on VGA-1 and still got Configure crtc 0 failed.

@powergame Are you using Modeline values as reported by running cvt in your system? In my answer I used the values for my system.
