I am using Fedora 28. And mu lsusb command gives me a result like.

Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub Bus 001 Device 004: ID 06cb:00a2 Synaptics, Inc. Bus 001 Device 003: ID 04f2:b604 Chicony Electronics Co., Ltd Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

I don't think any one of these is my finger print scanner.

In your case 06cb:00a2 Synaptics, Inc.looks like the fingerprint, but it's currently not supported. You can post driver request here: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/libfpr...

From what I remember the issue with Synaptics fingerprint readers was that they were using proprietary protocol with encryption, that made it difficult to reverse engineer. I don't know if this is also the case with your device, you can ask here: https://github.com/nmikhailov/Validity90

Apart from working with libfprint and Validity90 communities, you can also nag Lenovo and Synaptics to provide linux driver or documentation necessary to create one.
