I have a new HP Spectre with Core I7 8th Gen Prozessor, I want to have fedora and windows in dual boot modus, but after installation of fedora 28, i can only choose between fedora and fedora recovery, secure boot in the bios is disabled. The partitions with windows and windows recovery are still on the disk. It is also not possible to go in the recovery mode with F11, only fedora will boot. I tried to recovery the system and do the fedora installation again, but it will not work. What can i do?

I had the same issue with my desktop. Make sure that when you install Fedora you choose EFI. If you choose anything besides EFI, grub will not "see" the Windows 10 and will not add it automatically to the grub menu.

This also requires you to specify a partition during installation

where the grub info will be stored.

no idea. as there is little information. In my case was pretty straighforward. Once I installed with EFI grub saw Windows 10 partition and it booted both OS without any problem. Same for other distros that I have tried.

Could you please be more specific about what you are refering to with "choose EFI"? I had the same problem this week and I selected the existing EFI partition and gave it mountpoint /boot/efi.

While the documentation clarifies which partitions are needed, so far I couldn't find a guide specifiing the steps that need to be avoided if I don't want to end up with a non bootable windows. somebody pointing me in a direction would be much appreciated. I just had to do a complete fresh windows install because if this and want to avoid this at all costs.
