Sometime I see BIND DNS server during updates. Usually it is some CVE being fixed, and I ask myself why I run this piece of software on my machine? Is there a way to remove it or replace with something more secure, like written in Go?

dnf remove does't do it.

✗ sudo dnf remove bind
No match for argument: bind
Error: No packages marked for removal.

You can't remove bind because it is not installed.

You may have these packages installed.

$ rpm -qa bind\*
bind-libs-lite-9.11.4-5.P1.fc28.x86_64
bind-license-9.11.4-5.P1.fc28.noarch
bind-libs-9.11.4-5.P1.fc28.x86_64
bind-export-libs-9.11.4-5.P1.fc28.x86_64
bind-utils-9.11.4-5.P1.fc28.x86_64
$

The bind-export-libs package is needed by some other packages. The rest can be removed. bind-utils have some useful utilities like nslookup so that might be worth keeping.
