I'm trying to set up a dual monitor with my computer. Doing this under xorg, tried using both display port and hdmi, and xrandr reads back as both being disconnected, but VGA port is connected and set as primary.

Gnome settings has no option for multiple monitor set up, just orientation, resolution, scale, and night light.

grub menu won't show up in boot

How to I get DP or HDMI connected?

Let me know if I'm missing anything

My recommendation (I'm doing this before new system installation): make Fedora28 Live DVD and run it. If still no luck, try other Linux Live distribution. This way you can find out if the problem exist with distribution or video adapter by itself. I'm using AMD Radeon HD7850 and it worked fine with 2 x DP monitors on Mint 18.3, Fedora 28, but second monitor was not recognized on Mint 19 and Kubuntu .... so as you can see sometimes it's hard to find solution... and I'm not sure if this is worthy to fight with this :-(
