LUKS password not accepted with kernel 4.18.*

After the latest update of the kernel to 4.18.5-7 I can't unlock my encrypted harddrive when booting. It's still working with 4.17.* and has nothing to do with the keyboard layout. I was using EN_US when updating. Has anyone an idea how to solve this apart from not updating the kernel?

to clear my doubt ...

hit the keys like this

Caps key -->> L , u , K ,s , ) , @ , A

expecting it to produce LuKs)@A , but it fails? Is that the scenario?

I was using EN_US when updating.

What keyboard layout is your password typed in? is it also en_US?

I cannot reproduce your issue, keyboard encryption unlocks fine with 4.18.5…4.18.7 kernels for me. There needs to be a bit more different on your computer.

Yes, it does. 4.17.x works, 4.18.5 and 4.18.7 fails.
