Hello, so I'm using Fedora 28 ( I have updated every new update so I'm not sure if it's still 28 ) and the boot up speed is very slow. I have to wait for more than 2 minutes. I'm running Fedora on my Acer Aspire 5, comes with 256 SSD and 1000 HDD if that's helpful, and I run it as my main desktop. I do not dual boot, so all my space is on my fedora. Why is it still slow? How can I speed it up?

Not sure what release you are running? Execute the following in a terminal: cat /etc/redhat-release (If installed, there is also lsb_release -i -r). Pretty sure it is still Fedora 28, since F29 has not yet been released as of today.

Run

 systemd-analyze blame

and see what is taking too much time. I would guess your network is misconfigured.

It really should not depend on the network but it really may be. One possible solution is to put the dependencies on the network later in the boot process.

I experienced the same with kernel 4.18.10 on my HP system. With kernel 4.18.11 all works fast and fine again. It's often a bug or a miserable coincidence of multiple factors, which can not always isolated well influencing boot speed. Unfortunately is boot tuning of Linux not so easy like Windows 10, which includes some tuning tools to isolate "breaks" faster. I recommend you to wait for the next kernel to see if things will get better like in my case.
