After upgrade from F28 to F29 I can start VDI however the client is irresponsive and unusable. I am running ICAClient-13.4.0.10109380-0.x86_64

(I know the latest version is 13.10, however a little googling showed that there are definitely problems with citrix receiver)

In the first place, I get this error:

/opt/Citrix/ICAClient/wfica: error while loading shared libraries: libidn.so.11: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I fixed that by creating a symlink as suggested here.

However, Citrix Workspace doesn't start. It crashes with a segfault as described in @kkanswer

SOLVED: this may be a problem in Fedora29 libcrypt. Use libcrypt from a previous version as below. Then no segfault, and everything works as in Fedora 28 (same performance also).

LD_PRELOAD=/lib64/libcrypto.so.1.0.2o /opt/Citrix/ICAClient/wfica

Fedora 29 ships with libidn-1.35, which provides libidn.so.12. As a result, the above binaries fail to run with the following error:

$ /usr/lib64/ICAClient/wfica /usr/lib64/ICAClient/wfica: error while loading shared libraries: libidn.so.11: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

As a workaround one could try extracting libidn.so.11 from Fedora 28 libidn package and putting it in /usr/lib64.

This works after installing the full "Citrix Workspace App" AND downloading a .ica file from the host AND using terminal to issue this command:

It's a long way to go, but it actually runs the full Citrix Reciver, not just the Workspace app. The problem with the latter is that there is a conflict with WebEx, which crashes the Citrix connection.

Question: is there an easier way to use the preload command, say in a .desktop file?

Wanted to add that for me, the correct terminal entry (before copying and pasting the location of the downloaded .ica file) is:

LD_PRELOAD=/lib64/libcrypto.so.1.0.2o -icaroot /opt/Citrix/ICAClient/wfica

It doesn't work without that -icaroot part.

The Citrix receiver has been replaced by workspace app:

https://www.citrix.com/downloads/work...

Which looks to be just a re-badged ICAClient and it still seg faults on F29.

There is a forum thread here about it:

https://discussions.citrix.com/topic/...

People should probably up vote this so someone sees it at Citrix.

The newer version from Feb 6, 2019 is working. I have installed the Redhat Web Package (Web Workspace app only): ICAClientWeb-rhel-19.1.0.9-0.x86_64.rpm

SOLVED: I was pointed to the Citrix Workspace which is an add on to chromium https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d.....

  • symlinking libidn.so.12 to 11 did not work.
  • Citrix Workspace on Vivaldi browser did not work (gave a blank screen)
  • Installed Chromium, installed Citrix Workspace, could login and works :-)
