Starting from a newly falshed USB with Fedora 29 live install I get the classic menu and start without porblem.

I have a gdm-wayland-session started on tty2 but the only I can do beside looking at the defaut background pic is access the settings with a right click. (Or is it me not knowing how to get a menu or something?)

then I can get a root console on any tty.

journalctl -b doesn't show me much errors, at least nothing bad to my eyes.

What I am supposed to see? I just want to run an install. Can I launch the classic installer with cli?

I've had issues with wayland on fedora with VirtualBox previously which makes me suspect it as a potential candidate.

I'm trying to run this on an old MacbookPro5.1. Everything works amazingly by default, brightness support, sound, trackpad, etc. But I guess it could cause some trouble.

If it is using Gnome (window manager), are you familiar with how to use Gnome? Hint: Click in upper left corner or press the "windows key".

Well, I was familiar with RedHat 7. I remember the "pull window" trick to get the first graphical login screen got me a couple of times at the beginning.

But nothing like this here, and of course Windows key doesn't exist on a macbook.

It's really frustrating cause everything seem to be working fine. As I wrote, i even have access to settings thru right click.

But I can't get any graphical menu to get me any further.

I'd be fine with a CLI option to launch the install but I can't find it anywhere on fedora docs.

WB to Linux.. your "apple key" should do fine :) move you mouse to the upper left corner, and/or to your left desktop border
