I'm using Fedora 18 with GNOME 3.6. I just installed MATLAB and I can't get an icon into the applications menu. I've made a
.desktop file called
matlab.desktop with the following content:
[Desktop Entry] Name=matlab GenericName=MATLAB R2012b Comment=MATLAB 2012b: The Language of Technical Computing Keywords=Compute;Plot;Data;Statistics Exec=matlab Icon=/usr/local/MATLAB/matlabicon.png Terminal=false Type=Application Encoding=UTF-8 StartupNotify=true Categories=GTK;GNOME;Application;Office;
I've tried placing this file in
~/Desktop, all to no avail. It just won't show up when I hit the
super key and search for "matlab", "MATLAB", or anything to do with MATLAB.
