# add tikz-er2 package to texlive on fedora19 64

Hi need some help on how to add tikz-er2 package to texlive on fedora19 64.

Background: when I try to pdf the tex file from the web page below, Texmaker halts with the error message '! LaTeX Error: File `tikz-er2.sty' not found. ...': [can't post links, a web post including entity-relationship-diagram/ in title]

Texmaker runs fine on this system for basic latex files I write. Looking quickly at [canpt post links ... fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/TeXLive], I tried adding packages by running following as root, but no joy: yum install texlive-scheme-full

I'm beginner-intermediate on Linux (depending on the topic), same for latex (though mostly beginner re latex packages).

Any help much appreciated.

It doesn't appear to be in the repositories at all. It isn't part of Texlive2012 then I'd guess. This is the output from my F20 machine:

[asinha@ankur ~]$sudo yum whatprovides 'tex(tikz-*.sty)' Loaded plugins: langpacks, refresh-packagekit 3:texlive-tikz-3dplot-svn25087.0-0.5.fc20.noarch : Coordinate transformation styles for 3d plotting in TikZ Repo : fedora Matched from: Other : tex(tikz-3dplot.sty) = 2013 3:texlive-tikz-cd-svn28695.0.3c-0.5.fc20.noarch : Create commutative diagrams with TikZ Repo : fedora Matched from: Other : tex(tikz-cd.sty) = 2013 3:texlive-tikz-dependency-svn25156.1.1-0.5.fc20.noarch : A library for drawing dependency graphs Repo : fedora Matched from: Other : tex(tikz-dependency.sty) = 2013 3:texlive-tikz-inet-svn15878.0.1-0.5.fc20.noarch : Draw interaction nets with TikZ Repo : fedora Matched from: Other : tex(tikz-inet.sty) = 2013 3:texlive-tikz-qtree-svn26108.1.2-0.5.fc20.noarch : Use existing qtree syntax for trees in TikZ Repo : fedora Matched from: Other : tex(tikz-qtree.sty) = 2013 Other : tex(tikz-qtree-compat.sty) = 2013 3:texlive-tikz-timing-svn21013.0.7d-0.5.fc20.noarch : Easy generation of timing diagrams as tikz pictures Repo : fedora Matched from: Other : tex(tikz-timing-beamer.sty) = 2013 Other : tex(tikz-timing-counters.sty) = 2013 Other : tex(tikz-timing-overlays.sty) = 2013 Other : tex(tikz-timing-clockarrows.sty) = 2013 Other : tex(tikz-timing-interval.sty) = 2013 Other : tex(tikz-timing-arrows.sty) = 2013 Other : tex(tikz-timing-either.sty) = 2013 Other : tex(tikz-timing-nicetabs.sty) = 2013 Other : tex(tikz-timing-advnodes.sty) = 2013 Other : tex(tikz-timing.sty) = 2013 Other : tex(tikz-timing-ifsym.sty) = 2013 Other : tex(tikz-timing-columntype.sty) = 2013 [asinha@ankur ~]$

Thanks FranciscoD - so where would I find the file (CTAN?) and how would I install it on my machine so that Texmaker can access it to typeset tex files using this package?

Yep. You'll have to manually download the package from CTAN and install it in your user home directory. I haven't had to do this recently. Try the steps listed here: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/LaTeX/Installing_Extra_Packages#Manual_installation
