Pidgin as default messenger

I like all the intergration between empathy and gnome shell in my fedora 19 but is it possible to remove empathy but still have the same level of desktop-application intergration with Pidgin messenger? because for some reason my facebook and windowslive accouts fail to login empathy but I can use them with pidgin

You must enable the Libnotify plugin in Pidgin (Pidgin options).

If libnotify isn't avaiable you can install it:

sudo yum install pidgin-libnotify

You must also install the rpm gnome-shell-extension-pidgin, if you use Gnome.

sudo yum install gnome-shell-extension-pidgin
