Fedora does not support upgrading via DVDs anymore. You might be able to use it do perform the yum update method, by setting up a temporary repo against the mounted DVD, but it isn't recommended, and the instructions for that method assume using yum repos on the internet rather than via DVDs.

You forgot to mention that the recommended method is to use Fedup :)

Please, as a rule, always backup your data before attempting an upgrade. It works most of the time, but it isn't perfect yet.
