I am attempting to load Live fedora scientific-kde spin and during install I get a constant stream of messages : "USB disconnect, device number 5" ...20 sec delay.. "USB disconnect, device number 6" ... and on and on by incremental device number.

I am using a Gigabyte GA-F2A88X-UP4 motherboard and a AMD A10-7850K APU. This seems to be a hardware issue because I have tried other linux distros and get the same problem. Any ideas?

Are you installing from a USB drive? If so, maybe try a different one or try using a CD/DVD instead.

You have a bad USB cable (or port, but probably cable).
