Unable to Boot From Grub Prompt

I recently encountered the dreaded grub 2 boot prompt when starting my system. I have tried following the directions in the wiki, but I am unsuccessful in getting the system to boot. When I am at the grub prompt and enter ls I get (hd0) (hd0,msdos2) (hd0, msdos1) (hd1) (hs1,msdos1) and when I enter ls (hd0,1)/ I see the vmlinuz and initramfs entries. I have tried several variations on the settings but I always wind up at the Dracut Emergency Shell prompt. In the entries on the console there is a warning "/dev/sda3" does not exist.

Any suggestions on what to do at this point would be greatly appreciated.

I suspect that my problem could have been solved by getting the settings correct on the startup, but the variations I tried all resulted in errors. So I decided to see if the 'troubleshoot' options on an old install disk (Fedora 19) would offer any help. The troubleshoot options did not offer any help, but somehow after going through that effort, the computer began booting correctly. So for now, all is good.
