I am using virtual machine and I have downloaded fedora 20 on it. Now I am trying to install python program on it and it gives me no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH... What do I need to download and install so everything is working properly?

Thank you

Python is always installed on Fedora. Your problem is not that python is missing.

+1k We need a lot more information on the issue. The exact error message will be best. At the moment, everyone is just guessing.

You don't need to download anything directly. Use yum to install the package.

yum install python

from the command line should do it. You'll need root privileges to do this, so use su - or sudo.

You should note, though, that there are many many modules to python - just installing the base interpreter will not give you all the libraries and extensions, and there may be different bits depending on what you're going to use it for. Take a look through your package manager (yumex is a good one) to list what is available for it.

Well, yum is written in python. You cannot have yum installed without having python installed :P

You need to install development group as gcc is missing. Try

sudo yum groupinstall "C Development Tools and Libraries"
