Fedora21 x64 When testing speakers in "Sound Preferences", the sound is distorted, but if I move my mouse back and forth really fast it clears up and sounds ok. Same thing when watching streaming video. Moving the mouse seems to help. Any suggestions?

Is the HDMI cable all the way inside? My sound was also distorted when it wasn't plugged in fully.

Have you tried unplugging the mouse? How does it sound if when no USB/PS2 devices have been plugged? Or the opposite - instead of plugging a mouse - use a USB drive and make it copy big files so the USB bus is loaded? Is it a laptop? Are you sure the HDTV is not at fault?(Tried with other HDMI video source?)? And have you tried with another cable? Also what GPU are you using(modern GPU's have integrated sound cards for the HDMI audio) and with what drivers? (nvidia and amd have two types - closed and open source, while intel only have open source ones). You might also want to play with alsamixer -c 0. That will allow you to mute and control the different audio channels.
