fedora 22 hangs on gnome and gnome basic

After upgrading from Fedora 21 to 22, the system hangs on gnome and gnome basic. On gnome on wayland it apparently works fine, but several applications crash(libreoffice, inkscape, to cite some). There is an error opening these applications, viz., Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module", despite having them correctly installed(libcanberra-gtk2, 3 and devel). Any help is greatly appreciated.

Getting the same issue since an dnf update last week. Using a fresh Fedora 22 install so not related to update.

Gnome just hangs on a blank screen if left unattended for a few hours. I have had to resort to booting into the windows partition because it is unusable.

Will try to revert changes and see if the issue remains. Even booting to older kernels the issue still occurs.

Can revert recent updates due to an issue with a graphics driver not being available. :(
