I have Fedora 16 and OS X installed on my Macbook Pro. I want to be able to use Rhythmbox with the iTunes library I have on my other partition, but I cannot add the files to the Rhythmbox library because I don't have access to my Music folder on the other partition. Does anyone know of a way around this?

Finally figured this out. Here is all I did:

  1. sudo yum install beesu

  2. beesu rhythmbox

Beesu allows you to open programs as root. As long as the other partition is mounted prior to opening rhythmbox, you will be able to access the files on the other partition and play the music.

The only problem with this method is that you much launch rhythmbox this way each time in order to have access to the songs.

Are your songs free from DRM? Rhythmbox cannot play songs that are restricted media.

Consider alternatives such as Amazon.com that is DRM free.
