I've been using the same pxe install setup for FC3 all the way up to F16. F17 is now failing. On my tftp server, I have the following pxe menu entry for F17:

label core17-x86_64
   kernel core17/x86_64/vmlinuz
   append initrd=core17/x86_64/initrd.img ramdisk_size=8192 ks=

My kickstart file is short and simple:

nfs --server= --dir=/pub/fedora/17/x86_64/os
lang en_US.UTF-8
keyboard us
timezone --utc America/Los_Angeles

I verified that the kickstart file can be found at the specified URL, and that the fedora 17 install tree can be NFS-mounted from the specified directory. However, when I perform a PXE install in a VM or on real hardware, I get the erro:

dracut Warning: dracut: FATAL: For argument 'ip='\nSorry, unknown value ''

image description

dracut then refuses to continue and the install fails. I found in the release notes that it's now necessary to point the pxe installer at the install directory: http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/Fedora/17/html/ReleaseNotes/sect-ReleaseNotes-ChangesforSysadmin.html#id624774

However, even when I add

...to the pxe stanza, I get the same error.

Is there some other option or setup step that I am missing?

To me it seems to be a syntax change in dracut.

Look at

$ man dracut.kernel

for the format of the ip= line when booting your client.
