So, I've got a notebook and I need to use its internal microphone. But when I use it, my friends on Skype and Hangouts say that it goes from super loud to audible to "can't hear you at all" all the time. I don't know if there's a proper way to configure each internal microphone and if there is any driver or software I can use to help me out, that's why I'm asking you guys. The notebook is not old. It's a model that I've bought from a "gaming notebooks" seller and it has NVIDIA Optimus support (via Bumblebee Project for Linux, which is the one I use). Don't know if it has something to do with my mic, though.

I think we need here more info about your notebook, and your soundcard. But at least would be really helpful if you provide more details. As attachment you can create with fpaste an log about your hw - and insert the link ONLY over here - so we can watch it the dmesg output, and other parts too. So, please make as root in terminal window:

dmesg | fpaste

Then when you are ready, fpaste will give an hyperlink. That will help us. Thank you.
