Hi there, Clean install of Fedora and trying to configure HDMI to work in my Dell XPS 17 L702X, Intel Graphics Card Intel Sandybridge Mobile to send the signal to my Marantz HD receiver. So far been able to get video working out-of-box ok, but no audio so far. Last attempt was installing pavucontrol, and selecting Digital Surround (HDMI) 5.1 Output + Analogue Stereo Input, while it detected a connection, there was no sound. Can please anyone help me out with this problem. Thanks for your time.

Have you set HDMI as your output audio source? Go to System Settings: Sound: Output and choose HDMI. I didn’t have to configure anything. It could depend on your mainboard or graphic card, so please provide more info.

Using pavucontrol I can select the Digital Surround (HDMI) 5.1 Output + Analogue Stereo Input profile. But the command that said doesn't show the HDMI option unless I do what I said in the line above. But if afterwards I get to change it for any other option it won't show me the HDMI option back. What is possibly happening? Doesn't Fedora 23 come with HDMI drivers loaded (and activated) to the kernel? There's not any System Settings: Sound Output on my Fedora, do I need to install more drivers? Can any of you give a hint? Thanks for your time.

Not resolved, no sound HDMI problem, format of drives and clean install of Fedora 24 did not produce sound. Read hundreds of no sound, no audio no HDA PCH audio, around the sites, boards, channels and no one has addressed what I saw 2 years ago, a script patch on the os that directs the sound to the HDMI port. pavcontrol shows normal sound registering in the displays, alsamixer is ok. which are unmuted and set to full volume. all channels are registered there no indication of sound. Am suspecting the Fedora kernal is not configuring my sound output to HDMI, noticed failures on install.
