A nice way to rename all folders is to (temporarily) change Gnome's language to EN (e.g.), restart, and upon next login you should automatically be asked if your standard folders should be changed. If, for some reason that does not happen, you will have to run the program:

xdg-user-dirs-gtk-update

The folders are defined in the file: ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs. (To edit it manually: gedit ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs).

In a non-Gnome, or even non-Desktop environment, you should edit the content of ~/.config/user-dirs.locale to e.g. en_US, and then run

xdg-user-dirs-update

For more info:

man user-dirs.dirs
man user-dirs.conf
man user-dirs.defaults

...and if you're not using Gnome?

Thank you. Asked and answered. I asked because the way your answer was phrased made it look like your suggestion was Gnome-specific and not all of us who use Fedora use Gnome.
