On Fedora 17 (x86_64), I have installed 2030 firmware, and the wireless is working fine but only using 802.11g, no N connection.

[ 4.586565] iwlwifi 0000:03:00.0: loaded firmware version
[ 4.592341] iwlwifi 0000:03:00.0: Detected Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 2230 BGN, REV=0xC8

The HW is working fine on Windows, and I have tried with two routers, both Linksys. iw list shows only "Wiphy phy0", and only frequencies in 2.4 GHz band.

I have tried adding "options iwlwifi 11n_disable=0" in /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf, no success.

Any ideas ? Thank you.

Run ifconfig and post the results.

I have Asus laptop running Fedora 20, with Centrino 2230. Fedora20 works perfectly with my hardware no issues. Fedora 17 should have no problems with Centrino 2230. I connect to both g and n with no error issues. It sounds like your Centrino is turned off somewhere in your configuration.

This would be the complete process to fix any driver issues.

sudo yum install linux-headers-$(uname -r) build-essential
wget http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/projects/backports/2013/01/23/compat-drivers-2013-01-23-1-u.tar.bz2
tar -jxvf compat-drivers-2013-01-23-1-u.tar.bz2
cd compat-drivers-2013-01-23-1-u/
./scripts/driver-select intel
make clean
sudo make install

Having done all of the above, reboot and try to connect your wifi again, checking for your desired N router.

Somewhat tedius, but probably less time consuming than what you have already experienced.
